Seeing as i'm not getting out and about much these days due to ill health I thought i'd try a bit of experimenting with still life. Here's me holding some dried rose petals. I've added a vignette, converted it to mono and done some selective colouring in photoshop. What do you think, any comments/advice will be gratefully accepted.

Very clever, I like the way you did that, your colour blocking is so well done. Mine always looks so shoddy
Thanks Jeanette. I was taught by a friend to use the pen tool to outline round the part i wanted to do the selective colouring. It's a long laborious task but worth it in the end.
Well done, Carole. I love how the hands and arms just sort of blend into the background. What is really impressive is your petals aren't a straight shade. I've seen so many photos where they did color blocking and somehow change the color to a straight shade.
Thanks Evil Pixie. The petals are the colour from the original shot. I created a duplcate of the original layer, converted it to mono, used the pen tool to mask round the petals, created a seletion, then used the brush tool over the selection of petala to erase the 2nd layer leaving the colour showing through. LOL something like that anyway. haha
Again excellent picture Carole.
