Far Pastures

A few images taken at Far Pastures my local nature hide. I was hapy I saw the fox there today. He was hiding in amongst the grass and forget-me-not flowers. This was taken through the glass as we didn't dare open the window for fear he ran away before we got one shot at least. Sure enough after the shot, we tried opening the window and he did just that. scarpered. LOL I also saw the kingfisher and here's the best shot I got. It was windy and the grasses were blowing infront of him so i had to be quick to get a shot of him. I got talking to a couple of people and they took e to where there were loads od damesel flies and red comon darters. I took a few images there, bid farewell and went home. A good morning was had by all.

Countryside

I couldn't make it to the camera club tonight due to unforseen circumstances, but i did manage to get out to take a few shots. These photos were taken tonight in a field over the road from a friends house and not 30ft away from each other. Just shows how our British landscape is so beautiful and different every metre you travel. The weather wasn't brilliant but hey... it didn't rain. LOL

Sorry I haven't been posting for a couple of days but the weather has been awful and I haven't really had time to set up my indoor studio either. So here's a couple of old images taken in the Lake District last October. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

Camera Club Outing

Our weekly outing took us to the Derwent Reservoir. After a spot Metering lesson from Chris & Ron I tried my new found skill out. But I think I may need some practice as my photos didn't turn out too good. Here's some before and after the lesson.

Tunstall Reservoir, Weardale

Tunstall reservoir is located within the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and has an excellent walk along its eastern edge through a semi-natural broadleaved woodland. The Tunstall reservoir walk is not only a very scenic and relaxing walk but once in the woodland offers the chance to view a variety of wildlife.

Had a lovely day at Tunstall Reservoir near Woolsingham. The geese were in a field next to the reservoir when I got there and I got one shot before they flew off onto the water itself. It seemed funny seeing them in a field with haystacks.

Sycamore Gap

Sycamore Gap near Steel Rigg, Hadrians Wall in Northumberland. The famous tree was used as a film set for the film Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. Hadrian's Wall is a stone and turf fortification built by Hadrian in the 2nd century; it marked the northern boundary of the Roman Empire in Britain

The Hadrians Wall path is an 84 mile National Trail that takes walkers along the riverside route in Tyneside, through farmland in Tynedale and the grazing upland section dominated by the Whin Sill enscarpment. It then gradually descends to the rich pastures of Cumbria and finally the salt marsh of the Solway Estuary

Gone Fishing

Taken tonight at the Derwent Reservoir. There were two kids fishing and having a great time. What a difference from last night seeing kids being kids and not being demons. A joy to behold, to watch their playfulness and hear their giggles instead of insults and abuse. Thank god there are some kids of today that are naive as they should be at that age.

Black Swan

Taken at a farm near where I live. I was talking to David the farmer tonight and he said he doesn't advertise the fact he has swans on his farm, he's afraid the teenagers will find out and kill or hurt the swans. It's sad the world we live in now, it's full of anger, hatred and killing. The teenagers nowadays are angry, rebellious and hurtful. How someone can hurt such a beautiful creature it is hard to comprehend. But we hear of it day after day some youth has hurt/killed an animal or set upon an old lady. On the news the other day some kids had held down a pony and kicked and burned it with cigarettes. Something sick in their heads I think. I blame the fact there is no discipline in the homes or schools now. Parents are told they cannot lay a hand on their children if they are naughty, the cane and such like at school is banned and teachers are not allowed to hit back if they are attacked in the school room. What is the world coming to.
Last night when I was out with my camera club friends we were set upon by youths calling us perverts and kiddie fiddlers for photographing. We were photographing steel statues for goodenss sake what could be the harm in that. One cannot go along a street with a camera now and take candid photos of people, or children at play without permission. If they do get caught photographing without permission they are breaking the law and are called perverts or such like & arrested.
I'm sorry to go on tonight about this, it's just I was so angry last night when we were called those names and then to hear a farmer feared for the safety of his swans from the kids, it just made me so angry I had to get it off my chest.
